We have a new priest on board! The Rev. Canon Amy Real Coultas is Canon Missioner for College & Young Adults at Christ Church Cathedral in Louisville, KY. She is also an accomplished artist and designer. In bringing her on board, I gave her free reign for the design of the web site, the results of which you can see. She will also be helping with writing and editing so we can get this blog moving once again. Welcome, Amy+!
HolyCow software is pleased to announce the newest release of Keeping It Collared, the free clergy time tracker, available to run on Excel or Google Docs.
Many clergy persons now have letters of agreement (LOA) that designate a certain amount of blocks of time as a work week (Morning, afternoon and evening). This simple Excel spreadsheet can track these blocks and tell you how you are doing as a steward of your time. It will keep a running average of the number of blocks you work per week. It can alert you if you spend more nights a week than is stipulated in your LOA. It can track missed days off and help you track make-ups. It will also track reading time, vacation, continuing ed, sick days and Sundays off.
The Excel version of KIC 3.0 adds the ability to track multiple positions and have them tally on a master sheet.
AskThePriest.org is a website devoted to Episcopal/Anglican "Apologetics," that is, explaining basic ideas about the Christian Faith and the Episcopal Church to people wanting to know more. Despite doing both traditional blogging and podcasting, I have often cast a jealous eye on the area of vBlogging, but I knew I simply didn't have the time to develop one. Well, along came "Father Matthew Presents" from Fr. Matthew Moretz of Yonkers, New York. Fr. Matthew runs a vBlog on YouTube that answers questions sent to him by interested persons. I could not conceive of a better fit for AskThePriest. Fr. Matt has graciously agreed to to enter into a cooperative relationship. You can already find links to his vBlog in the sidebar. From now on, whenever Fr. Matt posts a new entry, it will also be posted as an embedded video in ATP. ATP will be adding links to those entries allowing people to find further information on the topic, as well as putting Technorati tags in.
I'd like to welcome the Rev. Shannon Ferguson Kelly to the authors of AskThePriest.org. Shannon is the Sr. Associate of Children, Youth and Families at All Saints Church, Pasadena, CA. Welcome, Shannon!
A Merry Christmas to all readers of the AskThePriest blog and listeners of the podcast! As things get very busy for clergy this time of year, it may be a week or two before you see any further posts. Please have a merry and holy Christmas as we celebrate Gods dwelling with us. If you are looking for a church to worship at this Christmas, you can locate one here.
I have added a Tip Jar to the sidebar. AskThePriest.org is paid for by yours truly. If you value this ministry and would like to help out, you can click on the image to make a donation that goes towards the monthly fees.
Adding a new author to the mix - the Rev. Cyndi Banks who is rector of St. Luke's Church in Boone, NC. Cyndi is a graduate of the General Theological Seminary, which gives us a little more breadth. She will begin blogging with us in June.
Adding a new feature to AskThePriest - Podcasting! I will be looking for audio recordings of sermons illustrating interesting areas of Christianity from an Episcopal standpoint. Right now, it has one of my sermons in the feed, just as a primer. The feed url is http://podcast.askthepriest.org
